Typhoon Lando, that caused the fall of my father's mini-banana plantation (ahemmm) last Monday, had forced restaurants and fast food chains to opt for candle-lit dinners. Reggie and I had our early dinner in Carlo's Batchoy (Boulevard) while waiting for Yotchie (who finished his shift at 5pm instead of 9pm).
Was PAGASA's forecast failed to inform the general public that a signal no. 2 storm was coming? Well, I'd say yes because I personally did not know that there was a storm coming despite the fact that I was housed that day in a government edifice. There was no radio. Though there was an internet connection, one could not get LIVE updates from the net coming from PAGASA (if there was, kindly inform me).
The typhoon had caused the death of ten people in Mindanao. Here in Cebu, we were lucky enough (despite the short-notice) that there were no deaths reported except for the death of electricity that postponed my mother's binignit session. There were some billboards that fell and as well as trees (especially those lining Jones Ave.), a lot of people got stuck in traffic, and oh the Christmas Tree in Fuente toppled down.
It was fun walking in the dark city, passing through closed shops, people on their own minds trying to reach home, the fallen leaves, the branches, and the november wind. If Lando was a lover, he was so romantic.
