Yesterday was the opening of the 16th National Congress of the National Movement for Young Legislators (NMYL) but the way I see it, we could not expect any "serious, credible, trustworthy" and whatever good human values that a politician should possess in the future because what we have right now are young legislators who are good for nothing except for making sure that their faces looks good on posters.

If you happened to pass by Waterfront that day, you would be amazed to see Bullet Jalosjos' tarps on every post in the hotel's entrance. We were there since 4pm 'coz our boss is supposed to talk in the opening program but two hours has already passed and it seems that nobody from the organizer made an effort to call the participants to get inside the ballroom because they are all very BUSY CAMPAIGNING for the next president of NMYL !

Showbiz personalities were everywhere. Everybody has their own gimmicks. It's actually like a mini-may 14 election.

And these people are our future leaders. What do we expect? A simple program that they themselves organized couldn't start ON TIME because of their hidden agendas.

I wonder what kind of projects these young legislators of the country are planning to do. Pang-photo ops ra? Good luck na lang gyud natong tanan!!!

Whoever had watched "How To Loose A Guy In Ten Days" might also enjoy this top ways to loose a guy. i found this over dear sugar and had a good laugh... the setting is westernized but maybe we could also translate this into our very own Pinoy version.... Here it goes:

1. Wrap your whole life around him. (Ako ra gyud ka! Wala nay maka-ilog sa imong kasingkasing gawas nako!)
   
2. When driving home from a party refer to every single woman he spoke to as, “a famous slut.” (Bigaon kaayo tong imong kastorya ganiha, swear!)
   
3. Make him take the quizzes in Ladies’ Mags. (Are you kikay or not quiz, mga ingon ana?)
   
4. If you went to a better college than he did, never let him forget it. (Taga-UP ko niya ikaw kay asa gani to nga bukid? Memorial school ba to?)

6. Every time he makes a joke, roll your eyes and say, “Very funny. Ha ha.” (Do i need to translate this? Haler?)

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

I spent today's special day for the heart going around four towns in the south. There was a ceremonial distribution of lakatan suckers in San Fernando's covered court to 20 newlywed couples in the town's mass wedding.

After that, we head to KEPCO-SALCON for the excavation ceremony of a 200 mega watt power plant and as well as the ceremonial switch-on of an electrification project in 81 sitios of the 20 towns and one city in the province.

Next stop was Sibonga Central School where a 2-classroom building was inuagurated and last stop was in Argao's farmer trading post for the launching of an early childhood care development project and groundbreaking ceremony of the Pres. Diosdado Macapagal Sports & Cultural Center.

I am once again awed by Sec. Cerge Remonde. Garbo gyud siya sa Sugbo!

Whew! So much for the enumeration... i believe that i need some time for myself to enjoy the 14th day of the month... a dinner date after this perhaps.

For the very first time, Cebu Province now has its very own TV show dubbed as SUGBO to be aired starting tomorrow at CCTN Channel 47 from 7:00 to 7:30 am. The launching was hosted by no less than Jude Bacalso.

Cheers for a long life

I am a lover of noodles and thought of sharing a recipe called Longetivity Noodles to those who would like to share a long life with me. Found this too in my teamsugar account. Since it's the Chinese New Year, this is the perfect dish for the event. But your noodles need not to be really that expensive. A simple one would do. This recipe is just a guide. You can change or vary the ingredients.

Here it is:

2 quarts water
5 ounces mung bean or soybean sprouts (2 cups)
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 pound fresh Chinese egg noodles
1/4 cup chicken stock, vegetable stock, or canned low-sodium broth
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon light soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Asian sesame oil
1 tablespoon peanut oil
One 1/4-inch-thick slice of fresh ginger, lightly smashed
1/4 pound snow peas
3 large fresh water chestnuts, peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick

1. Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan. Put the bean sprouts in a strainer, lower it into the boiling water and blanch the bean sprouts for 10 seconds. Remove the strainer and rinse the sprouts in cold water; drain well.
2. Add the salt to the water in the saucepan and bring it back to a boil. Add the noodles and cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Drain the noodles thoroughly in a colander and rinse them in cold water; drain. Rinse again then drain, lifting them to separate and dry the strands.
3. In a small bowl, combine the chicken stock with the soy sauce and sesame oil to make the sauce.
4. Warm a wok over high heat for 45 seconds. Add the peanut oil and swirl to coat the wok. Stir in the ginger and cook for 10 seconds. Add the snow peas and stir-fry until bright green, about 1 minute. Add the water chestnuts and stir-fry for 30 seconds. Add the bean sprouts and stir-fry for 1 minute.
5. Stir the sauce, add it to the wok and bring to a boil. Add the noodles and stir-fry until they absorb the sauce, about 1 1/2 minutes. Transfer the noodles to a platter and serve at once.

Serves 4.

Yee Sang Tossing in Marco Polo

The Yee Sang is a fish salad eaten only during the Chinese New Year. Tradition has it that the higher the salad is tossed, the better. That is why it needs a big wok to hold the salad and giant sticks to toss it.

I was able to watch the tossing yesterday at Marco Polo Plaza. Looks delicious before the 12 Intellegent People tossed it. The 12 people represents 6 condiments of the salad, two each condiments. Gov. Garcia, Margot Osmeña, Dawnie Roa, Chinese Consul Gen. He Shijing and Ramil Ayuman were amongof the 12.

I was able to watch the late news yesterday and it dawned on me how poor our political system is... Hay! Padayon lang gihapon ta ani...

Meeting the same fate with me, Reggie and I bought the same pair of shoes yesterday hoping that this would ward away bad luck. For the information of everybody, Reggie lost her phone and after a week I lost mine. I lost my wallet and after a week she got her wallet stolen too. Hmm I am very thankful that Reggie does not have a boyfriend, coz if she does, would I lost my boyfriend too? LOL
